Matriarca Builders is a statewide builder here in Florida with the primary license holder being a Florida native.

Since the early sixties the Pfannkuch family has been involved in developing and building, Albert Pfannkuch first came to Florida in the 50’s to look at and purchase land with his father Otto. The South Venice road and Bridge association was born from these efforts. Later while in retirement Albert would head up the new City of Venice public works dept. Albert's son, William was born into a life of construction. After graduating from Venice High School, William joined the US Army, during which time away Albert passed away.

William took over his father’s business while pursuing a career in criminal law and Government service. In 1983, while working two jobs, William graduated from the local 213 Carpenters union to begin his own company in Houston, Texas.

The company would grow to complete the exterior shells of over 22 high rise buildings reaching as much as 31 stories high. In returning to Florida in 1986, William started one of the only commercial drywall and framing companies in SWFL. He had the opportunity to build for EJ DeBartolo, Walter Mills, and Abrahams building malls and large multifamily projects. This helped the company to grow quickly. It wasn’t until William had his son that the company took on a 3rd generation of constructors in Florida.

The two of them completed over 600 residences in just 3 years. The companies have evolved from a specialty contractor to holding licenses to complete any size job. With one of the largest In-House groups, Matriarca can schedule and build within remarkable time frames.

It is with great pleasure that the new President of Matriarca, Claudia Castro came from an overseas project base and joined William in his passion of building for the future here in our home town of Englewood.
